Chapter 22 in Foundations in Microeconomic Theory, 2008, pp 525-539 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In 1985 I was brought to Princeton by Gregory Chow, hugely famous in China for two tests named after him. The first was a test used to select young people to study economics in US, and the second was the popular Chow test in econometrics. Although I passed the first test with flying color, I never really wanted to become an expert of the second test — an econometrician, that is. At the reception for the new graduate students, Gregory introduced me to Hugo, who just came from Stanford with his troops. I naturally thought that I might be able to work under Hugo’s guidance. Little did I know then how lucky I would be. As it turned out, I was the last student Hugo officially supervised during his tenure at Princeton.
