Chapter 5 in RFID in Manufacturing, 2008, pp 113-152 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In this chapter we presented insights on RFID in manufacturing that we gained during our case studies (see Chap. 4). Following a review of important terminology and a reference model for production processes, we presented the following common use cases for RFID in manufacturing: • Accelerating scan processes • Extending scan processes for quality and efficiency • Extending scan processes for narrowing recalls • Reducing paper-based data management • Automating asset tracking • Reducing back-end interactions • Unifying labels
