Abstract: Summary With the application of intelligent transportation system (ITS), a modified coupled map car-following model is proposed to describe the dynamic characteristics of one-way traffic flow and the control of traffic congestion. It is concluded that the proposed control strategy is more effective in suppressing the formation of traffic congestion.
