Chapter Chapter VII in Internationalisation of European ICT Activities, 2008, pp 200-216 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The ongoing internationalisation of production, investment, research and development activities in information and communication technologies poses serious challenges to policy. How should national as well as EU policy makers react to outsourcing of ICT production and certain types of services? Is there a danger that R&D units of European ICT firms are leaving their home countries for Asia? What is the likely impact of internationalisation on the competitiveness of European ICT firms? What further implications does the internationalisation process raise for innovation systems in Europe? Does Europe need a strong ICT industry in order to fully grasp the benefits of this process?
