Chapter 6 in Managing Innovation from the Land of Ideas and Talent, 2009, pp 155-201 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract India is not only the country with the second largest population, but compared to the number one country, China, its population is still growing and getting younger year by year. NASSCOM estimates that the market for engineers and IT professionals in India is believed to be the largest in the world, with about 2 million engineers employed by IT and IT enabled services in the year 2008. The strong growth of the IT and IT enabled services sector has ensured that those young engineers find a suitable position in a short time span, making salary raises in that specific sector faster than in other industries, even though the output or gains in productivity do not match the raise of the previous years.
