Abstract:
Abstract The theory described in this monograph has led to a number of applications, the most prominent ones being the ALEKS and the RATH educational softwares1,2. The focus of this chapter is on the ALEKS system. A large scale statistical analysis of the validity of its assessments was recently reported by Cosyn et al. (2010). We summarize these results which we regard as exemplary by the depth and details of the analysis. Using the term ‘validity’ in this context deserves a discussion.
