Chapter 2 in Simula Research Laboratory, 2010, pp 7-15 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In 2000, Aslak Tveito, the current Managing Director of Simula, and his predecessor Morten Dæhlen were handed a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a new academic institution from scratch. Although Simula owes its existence to a political decision; it owes its scientific vision to Tveito, who has led the laboratory since Dæhlen’s departure in 2002. Most of all, Tveito wanted Simula to be a place where scientists could do research, freed to the greatest extent possible from extraneous duties such as teaching, committee meetings, or the constant search for funding.
