Chapter 3 in Handbook of Geomathematics, 2010, pp 69-92 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter provides an overview on Earth Observation (EO) satellites, describing the end-to-end elements of an EO mission, then focusing on the European EO programmes. Some significant results obtained using data from European missions (ERS, Envisat) are provided. Finally the access to EO data through the European Space Agency (ESA), mostly free of charge, is described.
