Abstract Research and development (R&D) and Innovation are the drivers of change and the key determinants of growth in many industries and service sectors. The Industrial R&D Investment Scoreboard commissioned by the European Union provides data for the 2000 largest R&D spenders in Europe, North America and Asia.
