Chapter Chapter 12 in Founding a Company, 2010, pp 239-263 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In the chapter on the United Kingdom, the authors Andrew Lindsay and Michael J. Munkert start with an introduction into the structure of the domestic market with regards to legal forms. They use the general analysis framework for the handbook on legal forms in Europe to analyse eight relevant legal forms: the sole trader, the ordinary partnership, the limited liability partnership, the limited partnership, the private company limited by shares (Ltd., Limited), the private company limited by guarantee, the private unlimited company and the public limited company (Plc.). The authors conclude their discussions with an evaluation of the advantages and disadvantages of the different legal forms and provide exemplary recommendations depending on the individual case of the founders.
