Abstract: Zusammenfassung Um die Mitte des 19. Jahrhunderts begann eine völlig neue Entwicklung in der Geometrie, die bald in der modemen Mathematik eine große Rolle spielen sollte. Das neue Gebiet - Analysis Situs oder Topologie genannt - betrifft das Studium derjenigen Eigenschaften geometrischer Figuren, die selbst dann bestehen bleiben, wenn die Figuren so drastischen Deformationen unterworfen werden, daß alle ihre metrischen und projektiven Eigenschaften verlorengehen.
