Abstract: Abstract We present the results of mixed action lattice QCD simulations, employing dynamical twisted mass fermions in the sea sector and chirally symmetric overlap valence fermions. The aim is testing the continuum limit scaling of physical observables and by that, eventually address the question of the universality of such a mixed action approach. We focus on the study of the pion decay constant by using simulated pion masses of around 300 MeV. To render the computation practical, we impose a fixed volume corresponding to a lattice size L≈1.3 fm. We furthermore review the techniques used to deal with overlap fermions and discuss the computational details of our numerical studies.
