Chapter Chapter 3 in High Performance Through Process Excellence, 2011, pp 37-53 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Today, business process management (BPM) is a hot topic. But that has not always been like that – although the concept has been around for over 20 years. When I first moved from Germany to the United States in 1995, I expected that every company would be discussing business processes and BPM. Familiar with the process-orientation books of Scheer [1] and Hammer [2], I was certain that BPM was a hot topic in US business, just as it was in Germany. However, this expectation proved to be an illusion.
