Chapter Chapter 4 in Optimization for Industrial Problems, 2012, pp 37-66 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The basis of any empirical research is formed by the raw data taken from the experiment. When we are dealing with laboratory experiments, we expend much effort in order to create an environment where few external conditions affect the data. In this way, whatever is seen can usually be assumed to be an effect of the experiment and not an effect of the environment.
