Chapter Chapter 4 in Vito Volterra, 2012, pp 47-75 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract For mathematicians (and their historians) 1900 is the year of the International Congress of Paris and Hilbert’s 23 problems. For Volterra, it was also the year of his marriage and his move to Rome. Actually, all these events – the marriage, Paris and Rome – took place in the space of just a few months.
