Abstract:
Abstract The idea of conceptualizing and analysing macro-economic and business activities as “value chains” and “processes”, and recognizing the impact of lean, straightforward, transparent processes on business success became mainstream in the business world not before the mid-1980s. It were the widely read and widely quoted publications by Porter (1985) and Hammer (1990), followed by a huge stream of related academic and popular management literature, which started this development (e.g. Keen (1997)).
