Abstract The gradual elevation of military logistics from a pragmatic description of an army’s quartermaster’s tasks – as in Jomini’s work – towards a more abstract, theory based and universally applicable body of knowledge is most evident in Oskar Morgenstern’s Note on the Formulation of the Theory of Logistics.
