Extending the Volume of Fluid Method to Higher Order Accuracy

Abstract: Abstract In the present discussion we present a combination of the volume of fluid method with the front tracking method for the advection of the interface between two immiscible phases in two dimensions. The mass of each phase is conserved up to roundoff accuracy. The interface is thereby represented very accurately. A drawback of the present method is that topological changes are not handled ‘automatically’ as for the volume of fluid method.
