Chapter 35 in Handbook on Continuous Improvement Transformation, 2013, pp 607-621 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In the previous chapters, we have characterized a project as a sequence of unique, complex, and connected activities having one goal or purpose and that must be completed by a specific time, within budget, and according to specification. It is a temporary effort undertaken to create a unique product, service, or result. The purpose of a project is to attain its objectives and then terminate. It concludes and must be formally terminated when its specific objectives have been attained. If not, it will limp on, turning an otherwise successful project into a financial failure.
