Abstract: Abstract So far in this book, we have concentrated primarily on the psychological side of leadership. To complete the picture though, we also need to take a look at a few other perspectives. In this chapter we examine leadership from a more political angle, namely looking at the aspects of power and how it is exerted. We have already seen that leadership can be looked at from very different perspectives. We have shown that leadership is a relationship phenomenon that is stabilized by the power to remove fears. We have demonstrated that leadership involves structuring and that it lends an organization stability and efficiency through structure. Now we will look at leadership from the perspective of exerting power.
