Abstract:
Abstract In this paper, we use cointegration technique and VEC model to study the relationship between energy consumption and economic growth in China from 1953 to 2008 and have the following conclusions: 1. Long-term cointegration relationship exists between energy consumption and GDP growth. 2. In the long-term, energy consumption and economic growth have no Granger causality; in the short term, a bi-direction Granger causality between energy consumption and GDP exits.
