Abstract: Abstract In the open innovation era, knowledge searching promotes product innovation and competitive advantages of firms. After systematic review of some literature, this paper divides market/technology knowledge search into four types, and then discusses how firms accomplish product innovation. The research focuses on how technology knowledge and market knowledge are transformed to serve for the providing of new products and services. Finally, this research uncovers the mechanism of how knowledge search influences firms’ competitive advantages building, and investigates the effect mechanism based on open innovation perspective.
