A chapter in Traffic and Granular Flow '11, 2013, pp 439-452 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Methods of automatic recognition of traffic and pedestrian control means are in high demand today. Many problems in this field are not solved yet, or solved with significant restrictions in their work. Our approaches and methods help to advance these complex problems closer to practically important goals. Here we describe our approaches to smartphone-based recognition of traffic lights, traffic signs and “zebra” pedestrian crossings. These are all needed and very important for ensuring road safety and traffic regulation.
