Abstract: Abstract The purpose of the study is to provide suggestions for policy-makers and industry practitioners aiming at improving the construction industry development. This paper constructs a complete evaluation index system of regional construction industry development, and then applies factor analysis and clustering to analyze and evaluate the development level of construction industry of 31 regions in China by using SPSS 18.0. These 31 regions are categorized into five clusters by four extracted factors, namely total factor, efficiency and technology factor, per capita factor and profitability factor. The results show that significant differences exist in development level of construction industry among different regions.
