Church Book Registry: A Cliometric View
Jacob Weisdorf
A chapter in Handbook of Cliometrics, 2016, pp 155-174 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter links economic history to demography, looking into the use of church book data to investigate topics in economic history. Using the Malthusian population model to cast light on scholarly debates about the Great Divergence and the wealth of nations, the chapter illustrates some of the main advantages (and drawbacks) to using church book registry in this context.
