A chapter in Proceedings of the Conference on Complex Analysis, 1965, pp 109-113 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract This is a summary of results extending the theory of Teichmüller spaces [1, 2, 6, 7] to arbitrary Fuchsian groups and to open Riemann surfaces. The new point of view also sheds some light on the case of closed surfaces. Proofs will appear elsewhere.
