Chapter Chapter 31 in A Course in In-Memory Data Management, 2014, pp 211-214 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract Views provide means to store queries as virtual tables (also logical tables) [ABC+76]. They define a structured subset of the data available in the database. Views do not store data, but describe a transformation rule on the underlying data that is processed when the view is accessed [PZ11].
