A chapter in High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering, Munich 2002, 2003, pp 367-377 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Quantum chromodynamics (QCD) is considered to be the theory of the strong interactions. It binds quarks and gluons, the smallest building blocks of matter, to nucleons and mesons, and these to nuclei. The forces are so strong, that quarks and gluons are not observed in isolation. This phenomenon is called quark confinement.
