Abstract:
Abstract We briefly review the energy methods for hyperbolic and viscous conservation laws. These motivate the recent studies of the energy method for the Boltzmann equation. The new energy method is based on a macro-micro decomposition of the Boltzmann equation as well as the H-theorem. Previous energy method involves the spectral analysis and regularity of collision operator through sophisticated weighted norms.
