Abstract: Zusammenfassung Als Søren Georg Abel und seine AnneMarie Simonsen kurz nach der Hochzeit den Pfarrhof von Finnøy übernahmen, führte er seine Arbeit als Pastor aus, wie er es unter seinem Vater in Gjerstad gelernt hatte. Von der ersten Stunde an machte er auf seine neue Umgebung einen guten Eindruck. Auch hier im Distrikt Ryfylke rief er eine Lesegesellschaft und eine allgemeine Bibliothek ins Leben. Mit seinem Wissen und seiner praktischen Erfahrung hob er rasch den Standard der Schulbildung.
