A chapter in High Performance Computing in Science and Engineering ’02, 2003, pp 335-346 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract The flow in a low-pressure turbine rotor blade with incoming periodic wakes is computed by means of LES based on a dynamic SGS model. The computations are performed by using 32 processors of a parallel super-computer. The optimisation and tuning of the algorithm for the HITACHI-SR8000 environment allowed reducing the CPU time of a factor 2. The simulations identify several relevant phenomena thanks to the good resolution of the problem in both space in time. The computed results are compared with experiments in terms of phase- averaged and mean quantities.
