A chapter in Traffic and Granular Flow ’99, 2000, pp 495-498 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract A stochastic model is proposed to describe the ripple formation. Saltation and avalanches are the unique ingredients of the model. The dynamics of ripple formation is studied using a cellular automata. The “ripple state” turns out to be metastable. An extension of the model to the case of binary mixtures is also discussed.
