Abstract:
Abstract We consider the numerical simulation of a piezoceramical system operating as transmitter. The system consists of a piezoceramic, which is embedded in a coupling material and a casing, and is radiating into a liquid (sound field). In the computation we are coupling the finite element method (FEM), used in the interior, and the boundary element method (BEM), applied on the outer domain. Due to their coupling, the merits of both methods are combined. The BEM gives three different formulations for the complete system; each with the corresponding pros and cons. Our aim is the calculation of the resonance frequencies of the complete system and we will use for the computation the multi-grid method for eigenvalue problem (EMGM). The first numerical example shows the suitability of the multi-grid method for solving piezoelectric equations. In the second example we calculate the resonance frequencies of a piezoceramical ring by means of the EMGM.
