Abstract: Zusammenfassung In seinem Brief vom 23.12.1883 (59) spricht Cantor von seinem Sendungsbewußt-sein. Er sieht sich als das „Werkzeug einer höheren Macht“. Deshalb ist er auch überzeugt, daß Kronecker und dessen Anhänger sich nicht gegen ihn werden durchsetzen können. Bevor man eine solche Denkweise als antiquiert oder arrogant abtut, sollte man versuchen, sie zu verstehen.
