Abstract The equations governing the small dynamic deformations of an isotropic elastic/viscoplastic solid under condition of plane strain can be written in the following form: (1a) $$ u_t - \,p_x \, - \,q_y \, - \,\,\tau _y \, = 0\,, $$ (1b) $$ v_t \, - \,p_y \, + \,q_y \, - \,\,\tau _x \, = \,0, $$
