Abstract:
Abstract In this thesis an empirical usability evaluation of four graphical modeling languages in business process and software modeling was conducted. First, the theoretical background of usability in the domain of graphical modeling languages was deduced. Based on this, a framework for usability evaluation of graphical modeling languages (FUEML) was developed. In the next step, the framework was applied in two empirical surveys analyzing the usability of four graphical modeling languages. In the following the most important results and findings of the research conducted in this thesis are summarized. The FUEML framework and the findings of the empirical surveys offer answers to all research questions defined in chapter one figure 1.1.
