Abstract:
Zusammenfassung Chapter 1 defined productivity as the extent to which educational impact exceeds educational costs. In this chapter, the definition is used as a yardstick to assess traditional institutions of higher education. Divided into three sections, this chapter explores the symptoms, causes, and societal implications of the productivity crisis in traditional higher education.
