Abstract: Zusammenfassung Der Ursprung des in aller Welt verbreiteten Lotto-Spiels wird im alten Rom vermutet. Dort veranstaltete zunächst Kaiser Augustus und nach ihm Nero Pfandlotterien. Das Zahlenlotto entwickelte sich dann im Mittelalter in Italien (vgl. Glonnegger 1988, S. 64).
