Chapter 2 in Competitive Differentiation within the Shipbuilding Industry, 2014, pp 7-16 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract The building of complex, highly customized ships as well as the provision of technical service packages can be referred to as a specific application of resource-based as well as market based concepts. Consequently, in terms of content this work is located at the interface of the market-based view (MBV) and the resource-based view (RBV) of the firm. In recent decades there have been a lot of papers and critics written on the RBV and the MBV of the firm. Concerning these approaches, it is not the intention of this work to rewrite one more time what has already been said. What, among others, will be provided in this chapter are overviews of both concepts mentioned above, including the definition of those terms, relevant to the further understanding of this work.
