Abstract: Zusammenfassung Dass es gar nicht so leicht ist, über Autorität zu sprechen, liegt nicht zuletzt an unserer Unsicherheit gegenüber dem Begriff selbst. Was heißt eigentlich „Autorität“? Ist sie per se erstrebenswert – oder doch eher abzulehnen? Warum klingt „autoritärer Führungsstil“ so negativ, „eine Autorität auf ihrem Gebiet“ aber positiv? Wie unterscheidet sich Autorität von Macht und Gewalt? Was hat sie mit einer Person zu tun, und was mit ihrem Amt? Es gilt, sich einem Begriff anzunähern, der einerseits sehr alt ist, andererseits aber bedeutsamer denn je.
