Chapter 5 in Airline Revenue Management, 2021, pp 53-59 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract In the previous chapters, we have worked with pure leg-based revenue management techniques, which are typically used in regional and low-cost airlines with a low share of connecting passengers in their network and mostly point-to-point offers. However, major network carriers operate complex hub-and-spoke networks, where customers can choose and book connections from their origin to destination (O&D) with a stopover at a hub airport. The hub consolidates demand from various airports, which are connected to the hub airport by different connecting flights.
