Chapter 3 in Lean Project Management - How to Apply Lean Thinking to Project Management, 2022, pp 55-84 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract There are different views on the question what exactly the key ideas of ‘LeanLean’ are. It is therefore indispensable to explain and justify the understanding of ‘LeanLean’ taken as a basis for this book. A useful starting point is to outline the origins of the ‘LeanLean’ concept in the “Toyota Production SystemToyota Production System” (Sect. 3.1) and its diffusion in other industries and other functional areas (Sect. 3.2). It becomes apparent that this transfer involves different interpretations of the key ideas of the ‘LeanLean’ concept. For this reason, it must also be disclosed here what is viewed as the core of ‘LeanLean’ in this book (Sect. 3.3). This understanding constitutes the basis for the development of the “Lean Project ManagementLean project management” proposed here.
