Abstract: Zusammenfassung Die Institution des Honorarkonsuls hat eine lange geschichtliche Tradition und geht bis in die griechisch-römische Antike zurück. Diese Tradition beginnt dabei lange vor der Errichtung ständiger diplomatischer Vertretungen und der Entsendung von Botschaftern (Hoffmann/Glietsch, Einf. vor § 1 KonsG, Anm. 1.1.).
