Erinnern wir uns in diesem Zusammenhang an solche Neuerungen wie Dampfmaschine (1712), Eisenbahn (1804), Elektrizität (1864), Automobil (1886), Fernsehen (1928), Luft- und Raumfahrt (1903 bzw. 1942) oder Informations- und Kommunikationstechnologien (Anfang der 1980er-Jahre).
