Chapter 11 in Air Cargo, 2023, pp 291-296 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Logistics providers, which include airlines and freight forwarders, are less innovative than comparable industries (Busse and Wallenburg 2011; Schwolgin 2017). There are few indications in the literature as to the reasons for this. They are likely to lie primarily in the inadequate capital resources of many actors. The main drivers of innovation are the well-funded integrators and the e-commerce platforms Amazon.com and Alibaba.
