Abstract: Zusammenfassung Mithilfe von Robotic Process Automation können ohne größere Programmierkenntnisse Geschäftsprozesse automatisiert werden. Robotic Process Automation kann deshalb auch von Fachabteilungen zur selbstständigen Steigerung der Effizienz in den eigenen Prozessen eingesetzt werden. Dies stellt jedoch die Gesamtorganisation aus einer IT-Governance-Perspektive vor Herausforderungen. So kann ein koordinierter Einsatz von IT zu Sicherheits-, Datenschutz- oder Compliance-Problemen führen. In diesem Kapitel werden verschiedene Ansätze zur IT-Governance im Allgemeinen und zur Governance von Robotic Process Automation im Besonderen vorgestellt und vergleichend diskutiert. Ein möglicher Ausweg aus dem Dilemma ist der Mittelweg einer hybriden Governance. Diese wird im Robotic Process Automation-Kontext häufig durch ein Center of Excellence implementiert. Das Kapitel stellt das Center of Excellence im Detail vor und bietet Entscheidungsträgern Hintergrundwissen zur typischen Entwicklung von Robotic Process Automation-Governance in Organisationen.
