Chapter 1 in Internal communication and management, 2023, pp 3-10 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract This chapter sheds light on the basic action concept of internal organizational or corporate communication, which is derived and developed in this book from current constructs and desiderata of management. At the same time, this provides an overview of central task areas of management, such as standards, human resources management, controlling, risk management, or change management, whose successful accomplishment depends without exception on successful, strategically controlled internal communication. The presentation and discussion of these task areas is mirrored in the latest St. Gallen Management Model, which, with its three design areas of environment, organization and management, provides the necessary complex framework for an interdisciplinary view of the tasks of management, including internal communication. The differentiating feature of this model is its communication-centered perspective, which is considered a suitable substantive-conceptual point of reference with regard to the requirements of agile management in this book. To this end, this chapter provides a basic location for internal communications, adding an external perspective to its definition, which is currently widely accepted in the literature, in light of the significantly changed requirements of management.
