Basics of Robotic Process Automation (RPA)

Christian Langmann and Daniel Turi

Chapter 2 in Robotic Process Automation (RPA) - Digitization and Automation of Processes, 2022, pp 5-16 from Springer

Abstract: Abstract Simply speaking, RPA is a software program that can be used to develop (software) robots. Robots are able to carry out entire business processes or individual process steps independently and automatically. The robot interacts with the systems or applications involved in the process and mimics the human user interaction in the process. Efficiency gains result, among other things, from the fact that the robot can work faster, error-free, and permanently.
