Chapter 1 in Onboarding for managers, 2022, pp 1-4 from Springer
Abstract:
Abstract “The beginning is half of the whole,” said Aristotle. In my opinion, this does not apply to the start of a leadership position, be it the very first one or one for a further career step. For such a beginning, in my opinion, it is close to one hundred percent of the whole. We all remember our school days, especially when we were teenagers. When a new teacher entered our class, it was decided within the first lesson whether we respected him or her. While the popular saying is “all beginnings are hard,” I don’t think that statement applies to what I call onboarding into a new leadership role. The goal of this book is to prove this and to show how with relatively few methods, tools and steps a leader can be very effective very quickly.
