Abstract:
Abstract Media structures may be defined by the reciprocal relationship between elements within media systems (e.g., media organizations) and actors in up- and downstream media markets. These relationships form complex patterns that last for a certain amount of time and influence certain social conditions. Media system typologies serve to categorize these complex patterns into comparable variables, allowing for comparisons among otherwise disparate media systems.
